About me

The field that I am studying is Mathematics with a minor in Secondary Education. I am currently attending the University of Texas at El Paso but hope to transfer to the University of Texas at San Antonio by next year. I hope to one day become a Math teacher at a local High School in San Antonio, Texas.
The specific kinds of work I hope to do in my field of mathematics is teach high school students the importance of doing math on a regular bases. Show them that math is nothing to be afraid of and that anybody can do it if they just set their mind to it! I also want to try to explain to them that yes, math is in everyday way of life although you might not notice it. Math does not have to be that boring or hard subject you do not understand or like, I want to prove to my future students that math could and can be something fun to do and learn. Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus are not subjects to be intimidated by, to me they’re more of a type of subject I can’t wait to learn and make students feel the same way.
One specific issue I do see that is important in the field of mathematics are students seeing that math is too hard to understand, and I believe that begins with the teacher. Having a teacher that is unable to get the students attention is going to result in them not wanting to learn. From experience, my freshman year of high school I had a nice Algebra teacher but never really got my attention on wanting to learn. I found myself always having trouble with my assignments, homework, and tests. At that point I was ready to give up on actually trying to learn it math. But thru my next three years of high school I continued to get one math teacher that was just amazing! So amazing that she inspired me to become a Mathematics teacher just like her! For a teacher to grab the attention of every single one of her students in all her classes is just something you do not see anymore! Not only did she teach me the importance of math, but she taught me an awesome way of teaching others. She showed everyone that it is important to learn and actually care about your grades. She proved to me that a specific issue can always be fixed!
Some sort of agencies that Mathematic Majors can work in rage from being a teacher to being an accountant. From what I have heard you can do many things from being a Mathematics Major. Being more specific with an Education Minor you can become a math teacher, a math tutor, and even know more or less how to teach or explain science to students.
Just to teach math to students would be an honor! I want to be able to inspire students just the way my math teacher inspired me! Although this might sound crazy, I want to show students that learning math is just as fun as playing a sport or to the girls that love to shop, it is just as fun as shopping!
