Re: Assessment Memo

Throughout the Brochure I hoped to use rhetorical practices that would hopefully attract future educators, specifically in the science and mathematics field. For those that know the quantity of science and math educators, can honestly say that the United States is in debt for those fields. The lack of science and math educators has put a damper on the field of education in general. Not enough science and math educators has resulted in not enough students being interested in those fields, which begins the cycle of not having enough science and math educators.
The format of the brochure was designed for the reader to be interested in what they were reading and know that there are many advantages to becoming a teacher. The clipart that I chose along with each page related to each set of information on each page so the reader could have a visual based on the information given. The content that I provided was in order from the beginning of the process of becoming a teacher, to the qualities that are needed, the education that is required and finally the United States telling the reader we want ‘you’ as an educator.
I used a good deal of pathos, logos, and ethos. I made sure to give as much information that I could give within the brochure in the little amount of space that I had. Based upon UTEP,I gave the necessary fields and requirements that one would have to complete in order to fulfill being a teacher, and I also made sure to incorporate the salary, that way the reader knows it is a well-paying job. I also put a little comedy for example when I said “no… you’re crazy” (if you think you can be a teacher without any education) that way the reader could feel comfortable reading the brochure. Something else I made sure to put was the pros and cons to teaching that way the reader knows what he or she is getting into.
I would hope that my strategies that I used throughout the brochure will attract more future science and mathematics educators throughout the Unites States, because I do think it is a great problem. A plus to the brochure that I have made would be for a student to really take into consideration of becoming a science or math teacher. The United States need educators that want and are willing to make a change for the best of the future educators.
